Mr. Grump,
My realtor suggested using a stager to help with the sale, but my wife and I think we have a pretty good eye for design. Is a stager really necessary?
– Setting the Scene for a Sale

Dear “I Think I Can”,
It is common for people to question the need to hire a professional for anything short of a root canal or triple bypass surgery. But the fact is these Home Stagers have undergone intensive training and have years of experience that many home sellers do not have. Stagers have the unique ability to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. They know that your house must look great in photos and the multiple listing service. If interest in your property is low, I’d definitely recommend bringing in a professional to gussy up your home. On the other hand, if you and the wife think you’ve got an eye for design and watch a lot of HGTV, give it a go. You can always add a stager later on if your design skills aren’t as slick as you’d imagined.
